Dave’s – 2014 Smallmouth Adventures

Here’s a HUGE smallmouth Dave caught today on Wilson Lake in North Alabama. This monster smallmouth weighted in at 7.15 pounds. Dave told me his best five bass today was around 28 pounds and he was not throwing the A-Rig!

Guntersville – Derek & Amelia Shelton

Amelia sent me this photo of a good stringer of fish they caught last weekend. The water was around 50* where they were fishing. They were using Chatterbait type lures to catch their fish.

BER – Wakebaits

I just finished repainting a batch wake-baits this week and had a chance to try out a new topcoat on the lures. So far I am very pleased with the results of the topcoat but will know for sure when i have an opportunity to test them out when i catch a lot of fish on them.

Pickwick – Feb. 19, 2014

I made a fishing trip for crappie on Pickwick Lake yesterday for the first time I have had to go fishing since back in December. The water temperature was still low at around 46* with a slight stain in the water. The bite was very slow with only one small crappie being caught. We caught a few small yellow stripe and couple of drum, one small bass and one small bluegill. We did not fish live minnows only small crappie jigs. The best lure for me was a small 1/32 oz. maribou jig red-head with white feathers. Over all the bite was almost nothing but the weather was pleasant with the air temp around 65* with a slight breeze blowing. Man it was good to get on the water after a very long delay for me.
