I had a chance to make a trip to Pickwick with fishing buddy Lynn Melton yesterday. Of course the day I finally get to head to the lake the wind was howling with swells of two to three feet blowing straight up the lake.
Conditions: Weather air temp 50*, WSW wind 15 to 20 mph, heavy cloud cover no sunshine at all. Water temperature was 49* in most of the places we fished.
We managed to catch five keeper size bass all on crankbaits. The bite was slow and we found them in two places that had to be close to deep water. Now when I say deep water we were fishing near a creek channel swing that was about 12 to 15 feet deep. Our best fish was a 5.75 pound largemouth caught by Lynn and I had one over four pounds and another one close to four. The other two were just keepers.
